About Me

sage (can be reached at: uppelto@gmail.com)
My colleagues likely, but incorrectly, think I’m passionate about politics. Though I’m very active in a political party, I see politics as a vehicle to achieve social justice. My passion is people and community activism: connecting people, especially disenfranchised, with resources and knowledge. I work to involve people in the political and community process, starting at the grassroots level. This is where ordinary people become extraordinary decision-makers and grasp the power to change their lives and the lives of those around them. What truly defines me is how I treat people. It’s so difficult to keep balanced in the daily craziness. If I hold any power, knowledge, or authority and don’t use it to intercede for others, then I have neglected my personal responsibility. I cherish the many dear friendships I’ve made in at least 43 moves in my life. Their kindnesses, love, conversations and challenges have added great depth to my life. I’ve been especially blessed with those quirky, forgiving friendships of women friends.
